Where Greenville Tap Water Comes From
Greenville Utilities draws primarily from the Tar River. Water first enters a 63-million-gallon pre-settling reservoir, then moves through clarification before ozone, filtration and final chemical treatment. Three deep wells can supplement the surface-water supply.
GUC also adds fluoride, uses sodium hydroxide to raise pH, and adds phosphate for corrosion control before finished water enters storage and the distribution system.
